Antique Lakota Sioux Cowrie Shell Dress

Description

Offered is a circa 1890 Lakota Sioux dress measuring 41" sleeve to sleeve as shown and 42" tall. The dress is made with brown wool and has hundreds of cowrie shells covering the entire yoke and sleeves front and back.  The cowrie shells are the old kind not obtainable any more and are strung with store string. The sleeves each have a cluster of prairie chicken feathers dyed yellow with with hawk bells.  The dress is in excellent original condition.
